Have Slipknot Produced The Best Music DVD Ever?
F*KING HELL, this is exciting. Sky-diving? Bungee-jumping into canyons? We'll wager those experiences are minor tremors compared to the sheer heart attack provided by these two discs of shiny plastic. On February 16 this year, Slipknot played London Arena. If you were there, you'll know it was a blinding show. Remarkably, re-living the experience via the medium of a screen and five speakers is at least as thrilling as actually being there. This is, quite simply, the finest rock DVD package since Metallica's groundbreaking 'Cunning Stunts'.

On the night, the nine 'Knot members were each fitted with a 'Mask Cam', then filmed by a further 20-something cameras. Couple this maximum coverage with some fantastically fast editing and you have a dizzying experience that takes you right into the hurrican's eye. The 'Mask Cam' footage is used sparingly - almost subliminally for the most part - but the overall effect is stunning, fans entering the Arena, and the band getting ready for the show. In the latter segment Shawn 'Clown' Crahan prepares himself by vomiting on the dressing room floor. One thing you won't see here though, is a band member's face - anyone minus their mask in the behind-the-scenes segments has theirs pixellated out.

It's in terms of extras that this double DVD really comes into it's own, however. On Disc Two, you can manually switch between five different camera perspectives during 'Disasterpieces', and nine (yes, that's one for each band medmber) on 'The Heretic Anthem' and 'People = Shit'. This feature's great for musos - if you want to watch guitarist Mick shred his way through '(sic)' or 'Eyeless', then this will be your nirvana. The 'VIP' function is even more state-of-the-art. When enabled, it triggers an onscreen symbol whenever Slipknot members leave the stage. Click on it and you're whisked backstage to see what they're doing - essential viewing during Joey's ludicrous drum solo.

As if all this wasn't enough to tempt the cash from your wallet, all of the band's promo videos are available to watch. A real treat for fans in the first opportunity to see the animated video for 'Wait And Bleed' that was previously rejected for reasons yet unknown. Perhaps the animation wasn't smooth enough for these obsessive perfectionists, but it's a creepy, Tool-esque piece of work nonetheless, depicting Slipknot as evil dolls on the revolt. Even the DVD's animated menus, complete with crawling maggots, are worth watching: 'Disasterpieces' is truly an essential labour of hate.

Bei der ausverkauften Show in der Londoner Brixton Academy am 07. November 2002, setzte sich Joey während des Papa Roach-Gigs spontan hinter das Schlagzeug und trommelte zur Freude der begeisterten Fans!
Joey sitzt normalerweise maskiert mit seiner weltbekannten Hockey-Maske am
SLIPKNOT-Drumkit.

Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, System Of A Down, Slayer) ist derzeit als Produzent für das nächste SLIPKNOT-Studioalbum im Gespräch.
Bisher zeigte sich Ross Robinson für die Produktion des SLIPKNOT-Sounds zuständig.
Es wäre das erste Mal, das ein SLIPKNOT-Album nicht von Über-Produzent Robinson produziert würde.
Ursprünglich war geplant, die Pre-Production des dritten SLIPKNOT-Longplayers schon im Januar 2003 zu beginnen, dies wird sich jedoch um wenige Wochen verzögern.
Diese Zeit werden Sänger Corey Taylor (#8) und Gitarrist James Root (#4) nutzen, um mit STONE SOUR zu touren.

James gab dem “The Underground Scene“ beim STONE SOUR-Gig in Hartford, Connecticut, letzten Freitag ein kurzes Interview:
"We were going to stop [touring with STONE SOUR] around January to start getting ready for the next [SLIPKNOT] album, but I think we might go ahead and extend this out through March. SLIPKNOT, we talked about going in around March to do another record. We've been talking with Rick Rubin about having him produce the next third SLIPKNOT record, too, so it's possible that we'll go in around March, maybe a little later, but right now that's kind of what we're shooting for."

Root möchte nach dem ein Jahr lang andauernden “Break to focus on STONE SOUR“ das Songwriting für das kommende SLIPKNOT-Album anders als bei “Iowa“ angehen.

"Yeah absolutely, because we needed this break," Root said. "Iowa, that record was kind of rushed, I thought, and I think we've got a better album in us, so this would be a chance for us to kind of expand our minds and really experiment with music a little more rather then just banging out a bunch of songs."

Er verriet dem Kerrang! das "there is nothing on the market today that looks, tastes and smells like" die kommende SLIPKNOT Doppel-DVD „Disasterpieces“.

There's no cheating: what you see is what happened. Now you'll be able to study it in your own home, as a piece of biblical scripture.

Der Titel der am 25. November 2002 (tbc) kommenden Doppel-DVD steht mit "Disasterpieces" fest.
Der Mainpart von "Disasterpieces" stellt der mit 12.000 Maggots ausverkaufte und unglaubliche Live-Auftritt von SLIPKNOT vom 16. Februar 2002 in der Londoner Arena dar.
Gefilmt wurde mit über 30 Kameras, die zum Teil auch auf den Masken angebracht waren!
Vom Iowa-Neuner wird eine komplette US-Pyro Stage Show mit allen SLIPKNOT-Klassikern wie "Wait & Bleed", "Left Behind", "Heretic Anthem", "Spit It Out", "Surfacing" geboten. Zudem sind verschiedene Multi-Kamera Tracks, Backstage footage, Interviews, das rare "Puppet" Video des Songs "Wait & Bleed", sowie viele weitere Features enthalten.
Stereo und Dolby 5.1 sind da selbstverständlich!

SLIPKNOT-/STONE SOUR- Sänger Corey Taylor erklärt wodurch er sich zu dem Namen "Griffin Parker Taylor" (* 17. September 2002) inspirieren ließ.

Corey:
"Griffin we thought was a really good name and Parker is three different people," Corey said. "Peter Parker, obviously Spider-man. Dorothy Parker, an amazing writer and Charlie Parker. He's got a good legacy to live up to, I think. A kid named after Spider-man, a 1920's drunken writer and a dead jazz musician. He has a lot to live up to, you know (laughs).

"We had always wanted to have his middle name Parker. We just couldn't think of the first name. We were really racking our brains about it. Then one day my fiancée Scarlett said, 'What about Griffin?' and it just worked. It was a name we felt really good about."

Being a new dad is tough when you are in two famous rock bands and always on the road. "The only thing that sucks is that I'm out on the road so I get to see him very few and far between" he said. "We had a show in Chicago which is the closest one to home so we brought the family up. I had a day off the next day so I could spend some time with him.

Wie Henry Rollins (ex-Black Flag) es schaffte SLIPKNOT Sänger Corey Taylor für die von Rollins produzierte Compilation "Rise Above: 24 Black Flag Songs To Benefit The West Memphis Three" zu gewinnen, erfahrt ihr hier:
"It was one phone call," Rollins said. "I just got his number, called Corey direct at his house and said, 'Hey, this is Henry Rollins,' and at first he thought it was a crank phone call. And he went, 'No way.' I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm a friend of Sean E. I'm sitting with him now' this guy Sean E. who helped us. I said, 'I got your number and I need your help on this record. And he flipped out. He's like, 'This is really you?' I'm like, 'Yeah man,' so I said, 'I really need those big pipes on this song,' and he just said, 'Yes,' immediately."

When asked about Taylor's familiarity with the case, Rollins added, "He heard about it, but he didn't know a lot of the specifics. And so once he did, he went from concerned to furious with what's been going on with the case."

Im November wird die erste offizielle SLIPKNOT-DVD via Roadrunner Records veröffentlicht.
Was Euch erwartet? Nun, die neunköpfige Iowa-Mannschaft hat sich ein ganz besonderes Konzept für diese DVD ausgedacht.
Mit insgesamt 30 Kameras wurde der SLIPKNOT-Gig am 16. Februar 2002 in der Londoner Arena mitgeschnitten.
Jeder der SLIPKNOT schon einmal live erlebt hat, kann sich vorstellen, was passiert wenn man Kameras auf den Masken montiert und SLIPKNOT eine volle Show bieten!! Achterbahnfeeling gefällig?!

Zudem wird die DVD einige Videos, eine Foto-Galerie, Backstage- und Behind-the-scenes Footage, sowie einiges mehr enthalten.

"New Stuff Is Pretty Fucking Brutal!" Dies konnte Joey Jordison, seines Zeichens Drummer bei SLIPKNOT und Gitarrist bei seinem Projekt MURDERDOLLS, schon einmal dem Rolling Stone Magazin vorab mitteilen. Das Album soll Anfang nächsten Jahres in Angriff genommen werden und voraussichtlich Ende 2003 auf Roadrunner Records veröffentlicht werden. Aus den Iowa-Sessions ist noch massenhaft wuchtiges Material übrig, und die Neun sind wohl auch schon dabei neue Songs zu schreiben.

SLIPKNOT Shouter Corey Tayler hat für das Benefiz-Album "West Memphis Three" einen bis dato unveröffentlichen Track von Black Flag eingesungen, der bisher ausschließlich von Ex-Black Flag Frontmann Henry Rollins bzw. seiner Band Mother Superior gespielt wurde.
Der Release ist für November 2002 geplant.
"West Memphis Three" ist nach den drei Männern (Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley und Jason Baldwin) benannt, die in den USA des angeblichen Mordes angeklagt wurden.
Der von Henry Rollins initiierte Sampler "West Memphis Three" soll alle bisherigen Benefiz-Scheiben in den Schatten stellen. Die größten Black Flag-Songs aller Zeiten werden von einer Schar ausgewählter Sanges-Künstler neu gestaltet.

Das Debut von Corey Taylor's Nebenprojekt "STONE SOUR" wird hierzulande im September via Roadrunner Records veröffentlicht werden. Tracks wie "Get Inside", "Orchids", "Blue Study" und eine neue Version von "Bother" (vom Spiderman Soundtrack) werden auf diesem Release enthalten sein. Als Produzent ließ sich Tom Tatman (u.a. Living Sacrifice, Craig Erickson) und als Mixer Toby Wright verpflichten

Nein, bei den MURDERDOLLS handelt es sich nicht um eine Fortsetzung des unsäglichen "Chucky die Mörderpuppe"-Movies. Vielmehr sind die MURDERDOLLS eine Band aus den Staaten, die uns voraussichtlich am 19.08.02 ihr Debüt in die Player legen wird. Hinter dem Namen verbergen sich derweil keine Unbekannten. MURDERDOLLS ist das '95 angefangene, vormals als The Rejects bekannte Steckenpferd des SLIPKNOT-Drummers Joey Jordison, der hier allerdings mit Karacho die Gitarre schwingt. Zusammen getan hat der Maniac sich mit Gitarrist Tripp Eisen (Ex-DOPE, STATIC X) und Kult-Sänger Wednesday 13 (FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS FROM PLANET 13), hinzu kommen die Tour-Member Erik Griffin (Bass) sowie Ben Graves (Drums).
Musikalisch wird uns eine heisse, trashy Punk'n'Roll-Mixtur um die Ohren geblasen, also genau das Richtige um dem lieben Nachbarn etwas Gutes zu tun. Bei einem Song wird übrigens auch Bürgerschreck MARILYN MANSON sein Goldkehlchen zum Einsatz bringen.
